Happy Birthday +1

Well, here I am, wide awake at 1:15 in the morning, wondering if this is a side effect of the chemo, a side effect of having to nap all through the the day, or just my regular insomnia. Maybe recapping the past day and a half will lull me into slumberland? Hmm, let’s see.

The Day After…

So last night I was feeling a little weak/tired, but not too bad, and I was downloading random songs that I’ve been wanting to get for awhile now. Barb wanted me to download some Aaron Copland songs for the wedding. Naturally, the geeks in the file-sharing world aren’t too keen on his music, so I found nothing. Barb decided to go on a quest for an actual CD, so I went along with her since I’m Mr. Music and I wasn’t feeling that bad.

Ugh…

Today was a wearing sort of day. I didn’t do anything to strenuous, but I had another bad night of sleep (hey, five in a row!) and it’s pulling me down. Tonight’s a barbecue at a friend’s place, so I’m going to try to go unconscious for an hour or so.

A Sublime Exsithtence

I have a Star Wars thought, but I wasn’t about to title this “Sith Happens,” for obvious reasons (you know, that I’m both cool and grumpy). So I’m in my boss’ office going over some networking stuff and he has his TV turned to MSNBC.

This is the part where I say that while I’m a big Star Wars fan, I don’t quite get the dressing up on every conceivable location thing. Part of that might be that I don’t suffer fools gladly. If I’m dressed up as Chewbacca, I’m going to go all interstellarly postal when the tenth person commands that I growl.

That’s not my thought, though.

Sweeter than wine

No tests today – I get a break for the weekend. Well, except for the visiting nurse showing up this morning around 9:30. She took a good look at my incision and said that there were no stitches used, just a big steri-strip. I was starting to wonder when someone was going to be taking out the stitches I could see, but apparently I was looking at the scab of the incision. Dumbass.

Sitting in a McDonald’s

I think I’m in Naugatuck right now. There’s a dog grooming place across the way called “Naugy Daugy Pets,” so I think I may be right. I’ve just discovered that I might be able to post to this using my Blackberry. How cool is that?

The day just improved 1000 percent

So I’m sitting here at the office after eating a rather disgusting cafeteria sandwich for lunch. I’m slowly ramping myself up to get back to doing some work, when the notion hits me that I need Something Else. Something from the candy machine, perhaps.

In most situations, a thought like this would prompt a person to get out of their chair, rummage for change and head for said candy machine. There is a problem with this, however.

Wash hands before printing

I don’t know how I managed to do it, but I think I might’ve just transferred my sinusitis to a printer here at work. I guess that’s what I get for licking the toner cartridges.

That was different…

So I’m heading for the elevators to get some lunch. Near the door to the elevators is a donation jar set up to collect pennies for a couple of little girls to figure skate. At least, I assume that’s what the jar’s for – I usually pass it on the way to food or Coke, so I’m pretty single-minded when I’m in that area. I know there are pictures of little figure skaters around the jar.
